This paper tests two early dark energy models, axion-like and AdS-EDE, using CMB data independent of Planck measurements. It finds both models improve fit to WMAP+ACT data and follow expected ns-H0 scaling, but not with WMAP+SPT-3G. This suggests early dark energy may resolve Hubble tension, but more precise CMB data is still needed.
